Vello Park (1938.07.26 - 2018.05.23) garsus estų laipiotojas, alpinistas, Antarktidos tyrinėtojas. Kartu su lietuviais kopė į Lenino v. 1965 m.

Vello Park, one of the founders of the Mountaineering Club Firn, its former President and the Honorary Member,passed away on Wednesday, May 23rd 2018. Mountaineering.

Vello Park started with mountaineering and rock climbing in 1959. He is one of the founders of Tartu University Mountaineering Club in autumn 1959 and was the Club´s President from 1961 to 1968.

Vello Park was crowned the Champion of Estonia for several times, the Champion of the Baltic States in 1961, 1963 and 1966. In 1968 hewas the first Estonian in the history of mountaineering to pass the route of the 6th category of difficulty. Being a team member of Estonian mountaineering expedition to Pamir in 1965 and 1974 he succeeded to accent Peak Avicenna /peak Lenin, 7134 m; and Peak Ismoili Somoni /Peak Kommunism, 7495 m, in 1972. In 1984 he participated in the first accent to Peak Tallinn, 6074m. His contribution to develop the mountaineering was not just the climbs. Between 1963–1991 he worked as an instructor of mountaineering and as a lecturer and a coach at Tartu mountain trekking school (1963 – 1980).
